PROJECT 2 :

  • CHARACTER PROGRESSION

Figure 1.1 Character Turnaround (New)

Before I begin sculpting, I wanted to show you my character's most recent design. Aside from a few alterations to the clothing, cape, and hoods, there aren't many significant differences. I also opted to paint the character with three distinct possibilities to ensure that the one chosen is the most appropriate.

  • SCULPTING PROGRESSION (1ST ATTEMPT)

Figure 2.0 First Attempt

To design the attire, I chose to add a second layer of block forms to assist in the creation of the body armor, which is rather challenging, and to make the cutting process simpler. I applied the same method on the pants. However, Mr Kannan advised me various things can be enhanced such as detach the belts instead of making it on the same layer with the pants and by providing a gap or depth between different parts of the outfit.

  • SCULPTING PROGRESSION (2ND ATTEMPT)

Figure 3.0 Second Attempt

On my second attempt, which is the most time-consuming and labor-intensive aspect of 3D sculpting, I opted to add numerous embellishments, accessories, and clothes such as capes and hoods to these characters. Due to Zbrush crashing on my pc, it takes me around two weeks to make this sculpture.

I also chose to abandon the fur, which I found to be really challenging to design and too heavy (the Zbrush data) for my laptop. To make the reference (Mobile Legend Characters) more realistic, I decided to add additional belt and clothing features, such as buttons and patterns as well as bruises and scars.

  • FINAL CHARACTER AND DEAILS

Figure 4.0 Character Turnaround

Here are the character turnaround to present the 360 views of the characters. I found this character body proportion is fine, however, I found the face is extremely good looking and looks exactly like a human (I spent more than 2 days creating this face haha) which I'm very proud of.

REFLECTIONS :

Since I lacked proficiency in anatomy, I was discouraged while working on the sculpture because I lacked confidence in my ability to create human anatomy. However, as I sculpt my character and completing another activity, I found sculpting is incredibly interesting. After touching Zbrush and sculpting my character, I was unable to stop adding excessive details to my characters, and my confidence in sculpting is currently skyrocketing as a result of completing this project.
