EXERCISE
FINAL PROJECT : STOP MOTION
For this exercise, we are instructed to use our internet browser to
search YouTube or another video platform for stop motion and visual
effects. To complete this exercise, we will also need to provide our
personal opinion or rationale about the style, art direction, character
design, and so on.
STOP MOTION :
- Shortlisted 3 Stop Motion video from YouTube or Vimeo
- Share it on blog (Final Project section)
- Provide rationale (style, art direction, character design etc.)

I found and chose this stop motion video from YouTube because it was
different from the others that I found on the internet. The style is
distinct or, to put it another way, more distinct than the others. The
character design is a little quirky, but it helps this video stand out
from the other videos.
Otherwise, the video quality is excellent, with a clear, steady, and
enjoyable image. The backstory explains how a small thing (even an
unwanted object) can have a big impact on some people and it's enough to
attract my attention.
- Lost and Found | Short of The Week
This video provides us with a high-quality stop motion video. The video
is clean and they also playing around with many different shot sizes as
well as giving us a different angle throughout this video.
The story is simple, but we as viewers can feel the emotions and
feelings of the characters throughout this stop motion video. Unlike the
previous video, this stop motion provided us with appropriate background
audio, which improved the overall quality of the video.

Another work of art I discovered on the internet. Not only is the
style different from the previous stop motion video I mentioned. This
video also educates people in a very appealing manner, and it's no
surprise that it's been nominated for various movie awards all over
the world.
The story was very light and enjoyable to watch, and this is the
first stop motion paper animation that I found on the internet, and I
should say that I was impressed with how effortless this video was
while still having a powerful impact on me personally.
FINAL PROJECT : STOP MOTION PROGRESSION
As our final video project, we will be required to choose between
visual effect and stop motion. In addition, we will be required to
submit a proposal for this project so that Mr. Martin has an idea of
what we are creating.
For this assignment, I selected stop motion and decided to use legos
as my property. I found the concept intriguing because it resembles a
combination of visual effect and stop motion and here is the proposal
:

We are also required to create a storyboard so that our professor, Mr. Martin, will have a better understanding of my ideas for this final project. We also received valuable feedback at this time to help us improve our work in the future.
I was able to receive feedback during his class, and he inspired me to improve my work based on his feedback. I believed that his feedback would be useful for my future final project, and I ended up implementing his suggestion.
The following is my Storyboard:

After receiving Mr. Martin's approval and insightful feedback, I
decided to proceed with my final project. My friend Evaleez assisted
me in filming a total of 187 scenes for the stop-motion and
contributed 31 seconds to the final product. Although it is not my
best work, I am quite pleased to have completed this project. I had a
difficult time during the shoot, but thankfully Evaleez assisted me in
retaking and shooting these frames.
Here is the end result:

REFLECTION
I could not keep up with my time management, and I wish I had
performed this task more effectively. However, this course is
intriguing to me because I never imagined design would encompass this
industry (video and sound). I was surprised when this module was
included in this semester's curriculum, but it was a lot of fun
because I learned new things that I believe will be very useful in the
future.
Mr. Martin's class was also laid-back, and I appreciate how he
instructs us with this module. In contrast to other modules, I
appreciate that in this one we can form a group and collaborate.
Additionally, we utilised the camera room to complete this project.
I've learned a great deal of previously unknown information in this
class.
