INSTRUCTIONS

PRACTICAL

Week 5 (30/01/2022) :

This week, all members were asked to complete a survey about our chosen culture, Nyepi. Similarly to the previous project, all members of the group must come up and present their own survey and data collection ideas.

Here are some of the ideas for the Data Collection :
  • Internet Research ( Trustworthy Websites )
  • Youtube Documentation
  • Online Interview ( with Wendy Seto )
  • Google Form

Due to the limitations and inconvenience of data collection, we were only able to conduct a brief interview with a Taylor's University student who lived in Bali and witnessed numerous nyepi events. We also did a google form to receive many answer and responses from our audiences.

Week 6 (07/02/2022) :

  • Online Interview ( With Wendy Seto ) :

By inviting a special guest from Bali, Indonesia, we began collecting all of the data and information about Nyepi culture. We approached and contacted Wendy via social media in order for her to assist and help us better understand nyepi.

Through our power point presentation, we were able to compile and summarise the key points from our interview. We also wrote all of her responses to the presentation slides in order to help our audience understand nyepi and our conversation from our online interview even more.

We were also able to record and ask several questions about our theme and concept of Nyepi, including how foreigners behave during Nyepi, how to educate or promote this culture to non-Indonesians, and what the difference between local and non-Indonesians is during Nyepi.

And here is Wendy Seto's Online Interview:

Wendy was also very helpful and answered all of our questions thoroughly. She also told us about her nyepi experience in Bali and her thoughts on foreigners in Bali during nyepi. She clearly helped us to better understanding about nyepi, because we were all clueless about nyepi back then.

  • Data Collection ( Google Form )

We also used Google forms to receive and collect responses for the questioner from various audiences and countries. We summarised everything once more in our presentation slides to help our audience understand the topic and the numerous responses.

We were able to receive many responses from many people about their knowledge or understanding of nyepi as a result of this presentation, which helped us to explain and elaborate nyepi more efficiently and effectively.

We were able to analyse and identify many responses and answers from people after collecting more than 70 audiences from various regions and countries and sum it up through our presentation slides after collecting more than 70 audiences from various regions and countries.

FEEDBACK

General Feedback :

Organized and each method's purpose is explain quite clearly. The survey and the interview should inform about your ideation direction next.

Specific Feedback :

Half of the presentation was about the basic research about nyepi, which is actually the initial research when you first embarked on this topic since the first assignment proposal. The design of the slides should also consider there the small frames of presenters will appear. Parts of some the slides with important text are cut off by those frame.
